Gov’t to sanction officials who breach UNGA participation guidelines

The Minister of State responsible for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Fosu, has cautioned that public officials who disregard directives governing Ghana’s participation in the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will face disciplinary action.

In a statement issued on Saturday, August 30, Mr. Fosu explained that the President’s directive makes it clear that any breach will attract sanctions under the Code of Conduct for Public Office Holders, as well as the Civil and Public Service Codes of Conduct.

“Any official who ignores this directive will be dealt with strictly in line with the codes that guide public service,” he stressed.

He further noted that the decision aims to promote discipline, accountability, and cost efficiency in state operations.

According to him, the directive also reflects President Mahama’s “Resetting Ghana” agenda, which emphasizes lean and effective national representation at international engagements.
