Government has announced plans to release GH¢231 million within the next two weeks to settle outstanding allowances owed to nurses across the country.

This follows an earlier disbursement of GH¢500 million to healthcare facilities this year as part of broader efforts to clear arrears in the health sector.

Contributing to the debate on the 2026 Budget, Minister of Health Kwabena Mintah Akandoh reaffirmed government’s commitment to prioritising frontline health workers by ensuring the timely payment of allowances and improving working conditions.

He also revealed that government will deploy 700 medical doctors to underserved communities to promote equitable distribution of healthcare professionals and enhance service delivery nationwide.
