Gov’t to install 3,000 LED streetlights in Tema – Ebi Bright

The Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, has announced that the government plans to install 3,000 LED streetlights across the city to improve visibility and enhance security for residents.

Speaking at the 20th Grand Durbar and Homecoming celebration of St. John Methodist Church at the Tema Manhean Circuit, Mayor Bright said the new streetlights will be all-inclusive units, designed to prevent theft and tampering—problems often linked to drug-related activities.

“The planned installation of all-inclusive LED streetlights will not only brighten our streets but also address security challenges,” she explained.

In addition to the streetlight project, Mayor Bright highlighted other government initiatives aimed at transforming the community, including youth employment and skill development programs. These projects are intended to equip young people with marketable skills, create jobs, and tackle drug and substance abuse.

“We are rolling out several transformative initiatives to improve lives and build a brighter future. The Youth Employment Programme will equip our young people with employable skills while addressing drug and substance abuse in our communities,” she said.

These efforts, the Mayor emphasized, are part of a broader strategy to create safer, more vibrant, and empowered communities in Tema.
