The Minister for Works and Housing, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has inspected ongoing works at the National Homeownership Fund (NHF) housing sites at Shai Hills and Tema Community 22, as the government prepares to roll out enrolment for prospective homeowners.

At the Shai Hills NHF Estate, construction of 50 detached units, comprising two- and four-bedroom homes, is nearing completion.

Mr. Adjei explained that the project is about 98 per cent complete, following steady progress over the past few months.

Work is also advancing at the NHF Estate at Tema Community 22, Phase III. The development comprises 129 two- and three-bedroom housing units and is currently estimated at 95 per cent completion.

“The houses are almost 95 and 98 per cent completed, meaning we can start signing agreements with people to secure a unit, either through rent-to-own arrangements or via NHF-supported mortgage schemes established with the banks,” he stated.

The inspection comes ahead of the official commissioning of both projects, scheduled for the end of March.

As part of activities leading to the launch, the NHF will organise a two-day Housing Fair from Wednesday, March 4, to Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the premises of the old Gender Ministry.

The fair is expected to bring together prospective homeowners, estate developers, mortgage providers, and other players within the built environment. Organisers say the event will offer participants the chance to explore financing options, engage directly with financial institutions, and receive guidance on pathways to owning a home under the scheme.

The enrolment process for the affordable housing units is expected to begin in earnest following the fair, opening the door for qualified applicants to secure homes under the NHF initiative.
