The Government of Ghana has repatriated the body of 37-year-old Ghanaian Nash Amoonu Jailor, who was killed in an alleged mob attack in East London, South Africa, in March 2026.
The body arrived in Ghana on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at about 3 p.m. and was officially handed over to his family.
The repatriation was facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the government covering all associated expenses at no cost to the bereaved family.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed the government’s condolences to the family and assured them of its support as they mourn their loss.
Through the Ghanaian High Commission in Pretoria, the government is also calling for a swift investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jailor’s death and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
The government said it remains committed to protecting the safety and welfare of Ghanaians living and working abroad.
