The Gomoa Assin Traditional Area in the Central Region came alive with colour, rhythm, and deep-rooted tradition as Nana Ohweapen was officially enstooled as Gomoa Asmpaninapegyahene I in a grand coronation ceremony that celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the people.
The historic event drew chiefs, elders, queen mothers, youth groups, and residents from Gomoa Assin and its surrounding communities, all gathered to witness a new chapter in the leadership of the traditional area. The ceremony was marked by a vibrant display of culture, reaffirming the customs and values that have guided the Gomoa people for generations.
Traditional drumming and dancing filled the atmosphere as cultural troupes thrilled the audience with performances that told stories of bravery, unity, and ancestral pride. Recitals of customary poetry and appellations highlighted the lineage and responsibilities of the stool, reminding all present of the sacred nature of chieftaincy in the Gomoa Assin Traditional Area.
The high point of the ceremony was the coronation itself, during which Nana Ohweapen was formally presented to the people as Gomoa Asmpaninapegyahene I. Adorned in regal kente and traditional ornaments, he took his oath of allegiance to serve his people with wisdom, humility, and dedication.
As part of activities marking the day, key traditional leaders who will support and ensure the success of his reign were officially introduced to the gathering. Among them were Nana Frank Boakye, Nifahene; Nana Elvis Owusu, Tufuhene; Sampson Sakyiamah, Ankobia Hene; and Nana Ibrahim Amadu Chibsah, alongside other sub-chiefs and elders who will play vital roles in the administration and development of the traditional area.
In his acceptance speech, Nana Ohweapen delivered an inspiring message that resonated strongly with the crowd. He promised to rule with a difference, anchored on unity, transparency, and progress. He called on the people to see him not only as a traditional ruler but also as a father, brother, and friend, assuring them of an open-door leadership that prioritises their welfare and development.
