The Awutu Bereku District Court, presided over by Her Ladyship Ms. Armah Adomako Kwarkye, has remanded three suspects into police custody in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old security man at Gomoa Akoti in the Central Region.
A fourth suspect, Nabil Mohammed, a phone dealer at Kasoa, has been granted bail in the sum of GHC 50,000 with two sureties.
The suspects—Samuel Larbie, a 28-year-old businessman, and Wisdom Sosu, a 32-year-old mechanic, among others—were arrested by the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command after they allegedly travelled from Fetteh Kakraba to Gomoa Akoti to commit the crime.
According to the prosecution, the suspects tied the victim’s legs, knees, and head before suffocating him to death. They then allegedly stole the victim’s Infinix Smart 8 mobile phone, worth GHC 1,800, and copper coils and other components from two ECG transformers, valued at GHC 250,000.
Investigations revealed that the stolen phone was sold to Nabil Mohammed, whose arrest led to the identification and apprehension of the other suspects. The stolen electrical parts were reportedly sold to another individual in Accra.
Nabil has been granted bail and is expected to reappear in court on August 18, 2025.
Following the proceedings, Peter Dankwa, the brother of the deceased, commended the police for their swift action and called for the arrest of the remaining suspects to ensure justice is served.
