The Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani GoldStars, Akwasi Adu, has called on the government to provide financial support for Ghanaian clubs participating in the 2025/26 CAF inter-club competitions.

GoldStars, who recently won the Ghana Premier League for the first time, will join Asante Kotoko as the country’s representatives in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, respectively.

The Miners have been drawn against Algeria’s JS Kabylie in the preliminary round of the Champions League. They are set to host the first leg between September 19 and 21, before traveling for the return fixture from September 26 to 28.

If they progress, Bibiani GoldStars will face either Sierra Leone’s East End Lions or Tunisia’s US Monastir in the second preliminary round.

Meanwhile, Kotoko will take on Nigerian side Kwara United in the Confederation Cup. The Porcupine Warriors will host the first leg in Kumasi between September 19 and 21, before the return leg in Nigeria from September 26 to 28.

Speaking on Asempa FM Sports, Adu emphasized that government intervention would significantly improve the chances of both clubs advancing further in the continental tournaments.

Currently, GoldStars and Kotoko are in pre-season, preparing for the new domestic season as well as their upcoming continental fixtures.

Both teams are also set to participate in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament scheduled from August 20 to 24.
