The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed a report by Asaaseradio claiming the institution suffered losses exceeding GH¢3 billion in its first year, describing the allegation as unfounded and deliberately misleading.
In a statement released on Monday, November 17, GoldBod said the publication was “entirely false and deliberately contrived” to tarnish the board’s reputation and obscure what it considers strong gains made toward stabilising the economy.
According to the statement, the organisation has not recorded losses but rather “significant surpluses” since it began operations.
GoldBod added that its quarterly financial reports — expected to be uploaded soon on its official website — will confirm its healthy financial standing.
“Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod, which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation, will bear this fact out,” the statement noted.
GoldBod urged the public to disregard the Asaaseradio report, describing it as both misleading and unethical. It further called on the media outlet to withdraw the story and apologise.
“The Ghana Gold Board urges the general public to treat this false publication by ‘Asaaseradio’ with utmost contempt and calls on the management of the station to retract and render an unqualified apology to the general public for such misleading and unethical publication,” the board added.
