The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) earned US$1.871 billion in foreign currency from its small-scale gold trade in September. That is about US$471 million more than its target of US$1.4 billion.

GoldBod announced this in a statement on 30 September 2026. It said it raised the money under Act 1140.

According to the statement, Goldbod sold US$701.3 million to commercial banks to help keep the foreign exchange market stable. That is just above its US$700 million target.

It also gave US$1.170 billion to the Bank of Ghana to add to the country’s reserves, well above the US$700 million it had planned.

For October, GoldBod expects to earn US$1.5 billion. It plans to make US$1 billion available to commercial banks, and to give the Bank of Ghana up to US$500 million for reserves, in line with the GANRAP.

GoldBod said it will follow a new set of rules for selling foreign currency, called the Spot FX Sales/Intermediation Framework. It says the rules are meant to make the process more transparent, fair and compliant with regulations.

The Board added that it remains committed to earning foreign exchange for Ghana and will keep working closely with all stakeholders.
