The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) and the National Security have apprehended several foreign nationals attempting to smuggle kilograms of gold out of the country this afternoon.
This development forms part of a broader crackdown on illegal gold exports, which has recently intensified.

Information reaching JoyNews from highly placed sources indicates that the suspects were arrested while attempting to illegally transport a substantial quantity of gold out of Ghana.
The operation was a joint effort between operatives from the Ghana Gold Board and National Security.
The alleged smuggling attempt violates the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), which strictly prohibits the unauthorized export of gold.
Further details are expected to be disclosed at an ongoing press conference at the National Security Headquarters in Accra.
