Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has revealed a deeply personal divine warning; God told him his firstborn would die if he ever left the denomination.
Speaking during the June Holy Ghost Service themed “Destined for Greatness (Part 2)” at Redemption City in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, Adeboye, affectionately called Daddy GO, emphasized the critical need for spiritual direction and staying where God has placed you.
He raised concern over the growing trend among young Christians who frequently switch churches, always showing up as newcomers.
Recalling his own early Christian walk, he said, “There were three major ministries that were making waves, and they were very good. There were different temptations to go from one to another.”
Despite these temptations, Adeboye said God gave him a clear and sobering instruction, “God spoke to me, in a very specific manner, ‘Son, I brought you here. This is where you will stay. The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will d+e.’”
At the time, RCCG was relatively unknown, operating out of a small building in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
He shared how, even as a university lecturer, God told him to submit to a spiritual leader with no formal education, “I was a lecturer in the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay.”
Pastor Adeboye urged believers, especially the youth, to prayerfully discover where God wants them to be, and stay there.
“Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” he advised.
He also clarified that his statement was not a claim that RCCG is superior, “I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he concluded.
