GNFS warns public against fake social media accounts impersonating Acting Chief Fire Officer

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has issued a strong warning to the public against interacting with fake social media accounts impersonating the Acting Chief Fire Officer, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong.

In a statement, the Service clarified that Ms. Ntow Sapong does not operate any personal social media accounts on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or Snapchat. She has also not authorised anyone to create or manage such accounts on her behalf.

“Any account using her name, image or position is fake and should be considered fraudulent,” the statement emphasised.

The GNFS further cautioned the public to be vigilant, especially when approached with requests for payment linked to recruitment. It reiterated that the Fire Service does not conduct e-recruitment and has not appointed any individual or agency to act on its behalf.

“Any such attempt is fraudulent and must be reported to the relevant authorities,” the statement added.

The public has been encouraged to report such incidents to the Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service and the Cyber Security Authority.

The Service also advised Ghanaians to rely solely on official communication channels, including its website and verified social media handles, for accurate and trustworthy information.

Investigations are ongoing, and the appropriate agencies have been engaged to bring those behind the fraudulent accounts to justice.
