Firefighters from the Bechem Fire Station responded promptly to a distress call at 5:38 a.m. on November 18, 2025, following a head-on collision between a Ford Transit (AS 7172-23) and a Kia Rhino (AS 3058-X) on the Sunyani–Kumasi highway at Nyamebekyere.

An eight-member rescue team, led by STNO II Simon Yeboah, extricated all 16 occupants—14 from the Ford Transit and 2 from the Kia Rhino—and transported them to Bechem Government Hospital and PISGAH Advanced Medical Center for treatment.

Although the victims sustained varying degrees of injuries, no fatalities were reported.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
