GNECC to launch Global Action Week for Education in Oti Region

-

The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC) will officially launch the Global Action Week for Education (GAWE) 2025 this Wednesday in Bodada, located in the heart of the Oti Region.

The launch, which is expected to draw stakeholders from across the education sector, is themed under the global banner: “Education in Emergencies: Leave No Learner Behind.” The event will highlight the urgent need to safeguard education systems during crises and ensure continuous learning for all children, regardless of the situation.

Distinguished guests including Hon. Parke-Davis, Mrs. Sophia Ako, Hon. Kofi Adams, and Hon. John Kwadwo Gyapong are scheduled to attend and share their insights on the way forward for emergency education preparedness in Ghana. The event will be chaired by Mrs. Jacqlinda Attabra, the Oti Regional Director of Education.

GNECC is leading this nationwide call to action to address the growing risks that emergencies—such as conflict, displacement, health crises, and climate-related disasters—pose to learners across the country. The campaign emphasizes resilience, equity, and long-term solutions to ensure no child is left behind.

“Education is a right, not a privilege. In times of crisis, it becomes the very anchor that sustains hope and opportunity,” a GNECC official stated.

The launch in Bodada marks the beginning of a week of national activities, dialogues, and grassroots engagements aimed at strengthening Ghana’s response to education during emergencies.
