The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed the arrest of one of its officers, Assistant Immigration Control Officer I (AICO I) Ahmed Abdul Samad, in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation by the Ghana Police Service.
According to the GIS, the officer was handed over to the Police by the Upper East Regional Command following a formal request to assist with investigations into his alleged involvement in the transportation of a large quantity of ammunition intercepted by authorities.
The Service assured the public that it will not shield any officer whose actions compromise public safety or the integrity and professionalism of the Ghana Immigration Service.
GIS further stated that it is fully cooperating with the Ghana Police Service to support the ongoing investigation and reaffirmed its commitment to national security, professionalism, and accountability.
The Service added that appropriate action will be taken against any officer found culpable, in accordance with the law and established disciplinary procedures.
