GIS arrests 11 foreign Nationals for counterfeiting and cyber fraud in Tuba

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested 11 foreign nationals for alleged involvement in counterfeit currency printing and cyber fraud at a residential apartment in Tuba, near Weija in Accra.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the suspects were apprehended on January 5 during an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Cyber Fraud Taskforce Unit of the Weija Sector Command.

Items recovered from the scene included laptops, mobile phones, internet routers, fake dollar notes, and tabletop printers and photocopier machines believed to have been used in the illegal activities.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

The GIS commended members of the public for their support and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities involving foreign nationals to law enforcement agencies.

The Service also cautioned landlords and property owners to exercise due diligence when renting out their properties, reminding them that harbouring illegal immigrants is an offence under the Immigration Act, 2000 (Act 573).

The Ghana Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity and enforcing immigration laws across the nation.
