Godfred Obeng Boateng, the owner of A1 Bread who shot to prominence after actor John Dumelo mocked him on social media, has said his girlfriend is unperturbed about his bread-hawking business.

Mr Boateng, who was a guest on Class FM on Monday June 5, explained that he had encountered lots of challenges while many people had discouraged him but his girlfriend “supports my business”.

Speaking in an interview, he was delighted that the social media trolling by Mr Dumelo turned out to be “a blessing”.

Narrating his story, he revealed that he had been in the business for eight years, choosing to sell bread because he had realised Kumasi lacked properly branded bread for consumers.

According to him, he started the business with GHS 1,470 – a loan his mum secured for him for the purpose of producing and selling bread.

He revealed that he did not know how to bake bread at that time and ended up burning several loaves.

He was, however, grateful that through determination and perseverance he had managed to put up a big bakery in the Ashanti Region with 200 employees and 21 vans for supplying bread to various locations.
