The funeral and burial rites of the late former Executive Secretary of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA), Gloria Kafui Hiadzi, have been held.

Miss Hiadzi was laid to rest on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in a ceremony attended by scores of mourners and prominent figures from across Ghana.

In attendance to pay last respects included the Minister of Communication, Sam George, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Matilda Asante Asiedu; and members of the Council of Elders, including Chief Crystal, Kwasi Twum, and Cecil.

Representatives from key media and international organizations were also present, including Sulemana Braimah of the Media Foundation, Hamid Abdul Yakubu of UNESCO, and Prof. Akua Biritwum, Chair of the National Media Commission (NMC).

The US Embassy was represented by Joyce Asiedu, while George Sarpong of the NMC, former Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakari, GJA President Albert Dwonfour, and members of GIBA, led by President Abdullai Awudu, also joined the mourning.

Attendees reflected on Hiadzi’s pivotal role in advancing media growth and advocating for policies that strengthened Ghana’s broadcasting sector.

Her passing on December 24, 2025, a day before Christmas, was a profound loss for the nation’s media community, but her legacy in shaping media policy and advocacy continues to resonate.
