The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the Western North Region has directed all district health facilities to prepare for the temporary suspension of operations at the Zipline Sefwi Wiawso Distribution Centre, effective Tuesday, 25th November 2025.
In an official notice signed by the Regional Director of Health Services, Dr. Paulina Clara Appiah, the Service confirmed it had received a letter from Fly Zipline Ghana Limited notifying them of the planned halt in operations.
To minimize the impact on healthcare delivery, particularly the distribution of vaccines and emergency medical supplies, the Regional Health Directorate has outlined key measures. District Health Directorates with vaccines stored at the Zipline centre have been instructed to retrieve them immediately and ensure proper cold chain management throughout the process.
District hospitals have also been asked to maintain uninterrupted availability of blood and related products. Additionally, the directorate has allocated emergency stocks of anti-rabies and anti-snake vaccines to hospitals in preparation for the suspension.
The GHS expressed confidence in the cooperation of all district health authorities as the region manages this temporary disruption in Zipline services.
