President John Dramani Mahama delighted guests at the 65th anniversary celebration of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) with a light-hearted recollection of how he met his wife, former First Lady Lordina Mahama.

Sharing the story with a nostalgic smile, he revealed that their paths first crossed when he returned to the school to undertake his national service at GHANASCO.

While he was just a corper, Lordina was still in Form Four and one of his students.

By the time he completed his service and later returned to the school, she had already finished her studies and had become a primary school teacher.

Reflecting on that period, Mahama playfully noted that he was a young, handsome man at the time, and the encounter set the stage for the beginning of their relationship.

“When I came back, she had finished school… and the rest is history,” he added, prompting cheers and teasing reactions from the crowd.

33 years later, and the relationship between the couple is still blissful.

President Mahama’s story became one of the standout highlights of the GHANASCO@65 celebration.
