Ghana’s Honourable Minister for Sports and Recreation, Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, will be a guest speaker at the 8th Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) Africa Congress in Banjul, The Gambia.
Hon. Kofi Adams will be speaking on the topic “The Role of Government in African Sports Development” at the conference to be chaired by His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of The Gambia Republic.
He will be joined by Mr Bakary Y. Bajide, Gambia‘s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Shehu Dikko, Nigeria’s National Sports Commissioner, Hon. Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba, Mali’s Minister for Youth and Sports, and Hon. Khady Gaye, Senegal’s Minister for Youth and Sports.
Minister Kofi Adams will use the opportunity meeting with fellow African sports ministers to discuss crucial issues impacting sports development on the continent. Collaboration, infrastructure growth, and athlete welfare are expected to top the agenda.
The Congress will be held from February 6-9, 2026, and will be on the theme “Digital Media, AI, and Ethical Journalism in Africa”.
It will be held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.
The congress will give sports journalists an opportunity to learn, network and grow professionally.
The AIPS has, over the years, protected the rights of sports journalists, promoted professionalism, ethics and built capacity, while creating platforms for learning, networking and the overall development of sports journalism worldwide.
