Ghanaians are ready to punish NPP – Mustapha Gbande

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, says the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has yet to appreciate the resolve of Ghanaians to vote them out of power.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, he argued that the NPP’s defeat in the recent Akwatia by-election reflects the growing discontent of the electorate.

“We won the Akwatia by-election through hard work. The NPP is yet to realise that Ghanaians want to punish them. By the time they feel the full impact of their wrongs, they may even be registering a new political party,” Gbande stated.

He also dismissed President Akufo-Addo’s claims that the NPP will regain power based on his legacy and that of former President John Kufuor, insisting that the current government has been riddled with scandals.

According to him, the administration has “led a gang that ripped the country off” and cannot whitewash its failures with propaganda.

“Akufo-Addo saying they will regain power because of his works and that of Kufuor is not it. I thought he would have reflected in consideration of the scandals in his government. What has Akufo-Addo done apart from leading a gang of people who ripped this country off? And now they think they can whitewash themselves with lies,” he said.
