Ghana’s football community has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Berekum Chelsea forward Dominic Frimpong.
The 20-year-old, who was on loan from Aduana FC, was confirmed dead after an armed robbery attack on the team bus on Sunday, April 12.
The club was returning to Berekum after their Matchday 29 Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex at DUN’s Park, a match they lost 1-0, when the incident occurred.
According to reports, armed men opened fire on the bus, forcing players and officials to abandon the vehicle and flee into nearby bushes in a bid to escape.
During the chaos, Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ghana Premier League firmly expresses its unwavering backing for Berekum Chelsea following a reported armed robbery incident involving the club during their return journey from their Matchday 29 fixture against FC Samartex 1996.
