Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced a temporary shutdown of the Weija Water Treatment Plant on Friday, December 19, 2025, to allow for scheduled maintenance.
In a statement, GWL said the plant will be out of operation from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., during which water supply to several parts of Accra will be affected.
Areas expected to experience supply interruptions include Accra Central, Dansoman, Mallam, Weija, Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Kaneshie, Odorkor, Korle Bu, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Abelemkpe, Tesano, Kokomlemle, Alajo, Nima, Maamobi, Dzorwulu, and surrounding communities.
GWL has advised residents in the affected areas to store sufficient water ahead of the shutdown and assured that supply will resume immediately after the maintenance work is completed.
