Ghana will join the rest of the continent on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, to commemorate Africa Safer Internet Day, aimed at promoting online safety, especially for children.
The event will be held under the theme “Together for a Safer Africa Online: AU Online Safety Policy in Action”, with a focus on protecting children from the growing risks of the digital space.
In a press release on Monday, February 9, the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) said the initiative seeks to raise awareness on child online safety and support the implementation of the African Union’s Online Safety Policy.
The Authority stressed that safeguarding children online is a shared responsibility that involves parents, teachers, caregivers, civil society organisations, the media, and other stakeholders.
“Children across Africa face increasing threats online, including exposure to harmful content, cyberbullying, online abuse, sexual exploitation, privacy breaches, and emerging risks linked to artificial intelligence,” the CSA noted.
As part of this year’s observance, the CSA will lead intensified education and awareness campaigns in schools, churches, and communities to empower children and caregivers on safe internet use.
The Authority also encouraged children, parents, and caregivers to report cases of online abuse by calling or texting 292, via WhatsApp on 0501603111, or by informing a trusted adult.
The CSA reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to create a safer online environment for children across Ghana.
