Ghana stars Inaki Williams and Abdul Mumin have earned nominations for the prestigious 2024/25 La Liga African Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Williams, last season’s winner, has continued his impressive form with Athletic Bilbao, tallying six goals and six assists so far this campaign. He was also instrumental in Bilbao’s run to the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, although their hopes were dashed following a heavy defeat to Manchester United.
Abdul Mumin, a central defender for Rayo Vallecano, also enjoyed a solid season before a knee injury cut his campaign short. The 24-year-old made 24 league appearances, scoring twice, assisting once, and helping his side keep six clean sheets. His standout performances earned him Rayo’s Player of the Month award earlier in the season.
The Ghanaian pair are among 20 nominees representing 13 African nations. Winners will be determined through a combination of fan votes from Sub-Saharan Africa and evaluations by a panel of 25 African sports journalists.
Voting ends on May 14, with the winner to be announced on May 25, in celebration of Africa Day.
