Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to revamping the Ghana Premier League to make it more attractive and competitive.

Speaking at the official unveiling of a new partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Production Limited (APL) ahead of the 2025/26 season, Mr. Adams said the government is not only focused on qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup but also on improving the domestic league.

“We’re not only going to do well to qualify for the World Cup but make sure our league is attractive and competitive,” he stated.

As part of the new deal, each Ghana Premier League club is expected to receive GHC1 million ahead of the season’s kickoff.

The agreement also includes the live broadcast of three matches per week and highlight packages to boost viewership and fan engagement.
