Ghana Premier League needs strategic and deliberate planning – GFA told

Black Stars defender Baba Rahman has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to adopt a more strategic approach to the planning and organization of the Ghana Premier League.

The PAOK left-back believes that with proper attention and direction, the domestic league can reach the level of some of Africa’s top competitions.

In an interview with Joy Sports, Rahman dismissed the notion that talent is lacking in Ghanaian football.

“The challenges in our league aren’t due to a lack of talent — there are genuinely good players competing,” Rahman said.

“But when it comes to continental competitions, we often fall short.

The real problem lies in planning and organization. Improving these areas is crucial to attracting fans and helping our clubs perform better,” he added.

The 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is set to commence on September 12.
