The Ghana Police Service has paid tribute to twenty officers who lost their lives in various incidents while on duty this year.
A solemn roll call took place at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra, on Wednesday, December 10, during the 2025 Police Memorial Ceremony. The names of the fallen officers were read aloud as family members, colleagues, and dignitaries observed the moment of remembrance.
According to the Police Service, six of the officers had their names engraved on the Police Wall of Honour, a monument dedicated to personnel killed in active service, while the remaining fourteen were recorded in the Memorial Book of Honour, which recognises officers who die while performing official duties.
Police Memorial Day, first observed in 2014, is marked annually to honour officers who make the ultimate sacrifice, whether within Ghana, on peacekeeping missions, or during international assignments.
This year’s flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony was attended by President John Mahama, Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, and family members of the deceased officers.
