Supporters of the National Democratic Congress continue to brood over the party’s abysmal performance in the 2016 elections by wondering what may have caused it.

But a former national organizer of the party, Yaw Boateng Gyan, says he has diagnosed the problem.

Mr Gyan had attributed the party’s defeat to the failure of leadership of the party to motivate and support some party faithful is the run-up to the election.

According to him, the leadership ignored party structures and went ahead to give jobs to family and friends, relegating supporters who helped bring the party to power.

This he says, led to apathy among supporters who were reluctant to campaign for the party’s retention of power.

Mr Gyan speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Wednesday promised to bridge that gap if he becomes the party’s Organiser again.

I think NDC lost 2016 elections because true party members were not motivated enough. The executives worked with people who have no knowledge of the party. Some smaller groups like Dove for Mahama, for instance, were used for party activities and those who worked for the party were left out,” he noted.

Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan lost his position to Kofi Adams, who until then was the spokesperson for former President, Jerry John Rawlings” he stated.
