Students of Salaga Senior High School in the East Gonja district of the Northern region are calling on the authorities to help with water after the acute water shortage hit the school.

The students have to use most of the school hours to walk to kpembe dam which is about 2 kilometres from school to search for water, Adom News gathered.

Some of the students who spoke to Adom News said they are sometimes left with no other option that to beg for water from residents in the area.

“We facing water problem in this school so we go to the roadside to beg for water when he are not able to walk to the Kpenbe dam so we are appealing to the government to come to our aid” they bemoaned.

One student said she collapsed on the way to the dam due to dehydration but went the next day to the dam to fetch water because she had no other option.

“I’m force to walk long distances to fetch water even though I have been warned by doctors not to carry any load. I once collapsed on the way to the dam so I want the issue to the resolved to save my life” she noted.
