A wall constructed by a Chinese national has allegedly caused flooding at Toll Booth in Kpobiman in the Ga West Municipal Assembly (GWMA).

Speaking with Maame Akua Austin, host of Asempa FM’s midmorning show, Abrabo, Tuesday, July 10, 2018, residents of the area said the situation was threatening lives and properties.

They say the wall has not only blocked the passage of persons but also the waterway which allows water to flow whenever it rained, causing flooding in the whole area.

According to the residents, countless concerns have been raised and complaints made to the assembly but there hasn’t been any proper action taken to resolve the issue.

The Ga West Municipal Assembly (GWMA) issued a final warning for the demolishing of the wall on July 7, 2016, but nothing has been done by the assembly subsequently.

When the Abrabo team spoke to one Papa Kwadwo who says he is one of the field engineers who works for the GWMA, he confirmed the incidence, saying it required urgent attention but says he works under the Municipal Engineer and as such has very limited power.

The residents are therefore pleading with the GWMA to take immediate action to forestall any future disaster.
