Kofi Adams, former NDC national organiser

“The attacks on journalists make it obvious that the work is becoming dangerous even as we progress in our democracy; to the extent of journalists seeking refuge outside Ghana for doing their job. But with freedom of speech and expression, journalists should be able to do their work without fear and panic,” Kofi Adams, former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said.

According to Mr Adams, the recent attacks on journalists in Ghana do not speak well of the country looking at the level it has attained in the democratic ladder.

The statement of Mr Adams comes after the residence of a Bolgatanga-based Starr FM reporter, Edward Adeti was broken into three days after an investigation which led to the resignation of a Minister of State, Rockson Ayine Bukari.

Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam show, Mr Adams said it was important for media brutalities in Ghana to be condemned because it is an infringement on the right of journalists in discharging their duty.

“I will join the world in condemning what is happening and call for more protection for our journalists. Look at what is happening to Adeti and Manasseh who did excellent jobs on GYEEDA, and former President Mahama’s ford gift,” he said.
