The Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has eulogized the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, as a blessing to Ghana.

According to Bernard Allotey Jacobs, the Chief Imam has united all sects ever since he assumed the role as a leader of Muslims in Ghana.

“It is my prayer that the Almighty Allah grants you long life to continue to bless this nation with your wisdom and significant contributions toward national development” he stated as Muslims mark Eid al-Adha, an Islamic holiday also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice”.

The holiday is the first of four days when Muslims sacrifice meaningful things to them, typically sheep, cows, chickens and goats, which they slaughter, cook and share with family, friends and the poor.

Eid al-Adha also marks the end of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 10-day pilgrimage Muslims take to Mecca. Hajj is a pilgrimage all Muslims must take at least once in their lives.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem Tuesday, Allotey Jacobs said the National Chief Imam is one of the Islamic clerics promoting peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians.

He noted that, since his choice as the National Chief Imam two decades ago he has worked so hard to get Muslims to continue relating peacefully and closely with all people in Ghana irrespective of their religion.

The NDC Central Regional Chairman stated that, Sheikh Nuhu Sharubutu has often advised all Muslim factions to remain united or run the risk of getting overwhelmed by opposing groups.

Based on this feat chalked, Allotey Jacobs prayed the 99-year-old Muslim leader live to 150 years to impact his knowledge to the youth in the country.
