Johnson Asiedu Nketia, NDC scribe

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia has described the outcome of the first vigilantism dialogue between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the NDC as disappointing.

The meeting, which took place at the Central Hotel, near the British High Commission in Accra, Tuesday and mediated by the National Peace Council, was to bring the two parties to a common table to discuss ways to end political vigilantism in Ghana.

Speaking on Citi FM, General Mosquito as he is popularly said the outcome was below his expectations since the two parties could not agree on the scope of their discussion.

“Generally, the summary of my impression is that I was disappointed about the outcome of the meeting.

“My expectation going into the meeting was that the meeting was going to deal with the scope of the discussion with regards to what type of vigilantism we are talking about, and what we can discuss as part of the national dialogue,” he pointed out.

General Mosquito added: “My second expectation was that we can talk about the level of participation, who are those qualified and based on what criteria would that person participate?

“This was our understanding of the purpose of this meeting. But unfortunately, when we went, we could neither agree on the scope completely nor the level of participation by other stakeholders,” he said.

The National Peace Council extended an invitation to the NPP and the NDC for a dialogue to end political vigilantism following a call from President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for them to meet and resolve the issue.
