The La Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly killing his girlfriend for not accepting his marriage proposal.
The La Police Commander Chief Superintendent Oduro Amaning who disclosed the incident to Adom News said the suspect after committing the heinous crime bolted but was arrested at his hideout later Tuesday morning.
Narrating the incident, Chief Superintendent Oduro Amaning said the suspect, Rex Kpanor tried several times but all to no avail to marry his long time girlfriend but her family have refused to allow him marry his lover whom he has two children with.
He added that the wife abandoned him (suspect) to take care of the children alone.
Reason he called her on countless occasions and later ended up luring the deceased to disclose her location after which he visited her at her new place and committed the act.
“The couple had a blood covenant. He claims his wife’s family members don’t agree for him to marry her and because she had abandoned the family so he had to kill her after finding out where she stayed. He has been remanded after we took him to the La magistrate court. It’s a provisional charge for murder” he said.
Chief Superintendent Oduro Amaning said the suspect has been arraigned before the La magistrate court and has been charged for murder and has later been remanded.
The police he said have begun investigations into the matter.
