Ghana Military intakes RCC35 and SSC/SD34 donate furniture to Afadzato South District Education Directorate

In a heartwarming gesture aimed at promoting quality education, the Regular Career Course Intake 35 (RCC35) and Short Service Commission and Special Duties Intake 34 (SSC/SD34) of the Ghana Military have donated 20 teachers’ tables and chairs to the Afadzato South District Education Directorate.

The donation, which took place at the Directorate’s office in Ve-Golokwati, forms part of the two military intakes’ commitment to supporting under-resourced educational institutions and communities across the country. It also aligns with the Ghana Military Academy’s community service initiative, marking the culmination of its leadership training and outreach programmes.

Speaking during the brief handing-over ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Fiafor (Retired), who spoke on behalf of RCC35 and SSC/SD34, said the gesture was part of activities commemorating their 30th anniversary.

“This donation forms part of our 30th anniversary celebration as intakes of the Ghana Military—Regular Career Course Intake 35 and Short Service Commission and Special Duties Intake 34. We were commissioned as officers on August 18, 1995, and by the grace of God, we celebrate 30 years this August. We deemed it necessary to give back to communities we passed through during training, and the Afadzato South District is one of them,” he said.

Lt. Col. Fiafor disclosed that the donated items—20 office tables and chairs valued at over GH¢30,000—were aimed at motivating educators and improving working conditions.

He also advised the beneficiaries to cultivate a culture of maintenance to preserve the furniture for long-term use.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Directorate, District Director of Education, Yvonne Akpene Ame-Bruce, expressed profound gratitude to the donors.

“This kind of support is timely and greatly appreciated. It comes at a time when many of our schools in the district are in dire need of furniture. The tables and chairs will go a long way to enhance comfort and working efficiency for our teachers,” she said.

She also appealed to other institutions and benevolent individuals to emulate the example set by the military officers in helping to bridge infrastructure and logistics gaps in Ghana’s education sector.

The ceremony was attended by members of RCC35 and SSC/SD34, as well as staff of the District Education Directorate.

The Ghana Military, through its alumni intakes, continues to forge strong partnerships with local communities, reinforcing its mission of producing not only competent officers but also socially responsible leaders.
