Ghana’s Black Stars claimed third place in the ongoing 2025 Unity Cup with a commanding 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday.
After a narrow 2-1 defeat to Nigeria in their opening match, head coach Otto Addo fielded a relatively youthful squad for the consolation fixture.
The team responded with an energetic performance, marked by fluid passing and attacking intent from the onset.
Ghana broke the deadlock just six minutes into the game when captain Jordan Ayew curled a superb effort from outside the box into the net.
Five minutes later, Razak Simpson—eager to bounce back after a tough outing against Nigeria—rose high to head home his first goal for the national team, doubling Ghana’s advantage.
Mohammed Fuseini made it 3-0 with a well-taken finish in the 42nd minute, marking his debut goal for the senior side.
Lawrence Agyekum then sealed the win shortly before the hour mark, slotting home from inside the box to make it 4-0.
Christopher Bonsu came close on multiple occasions but was denied a debut goal. The match also featured a senior debut for Barcelona starlet Abdul Aziz Issah, while Felix Afena-Gyan made his return to the national team setup for the first time since 2022.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, resuming in September with Matchday 7 and 8 clashes against Chad and Mali.
