Ghana marked a new chapter in its cultural and diplomatic ties with Austria with the official inauguration of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Accra.

The event was attended by Austria’s State Secretary, Sepp Schellhorn, Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Yussif Issakah Jajah, and key stakeholders from the diplomatic and creative sectors.

Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister Jajah described the Forum as “a bridge between continents,” emphasizing its potential to deepen collaboration in academia, science, and the creative arts.

He highlighted that the initiative would promote cultural exchange, sustainable tourism, heritage preservation, and joint creative ventures, further cementing Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy and cultural hub in the region.

Austria’s State Secretary, Sepp Schellhorn, expressed optimism that the Forum would foster meaningful engagement between the two nations, encouraging innovation and shared prosperity.

He noted that this is Austria’s second cultural forum in Sub-Saharan Africa, underlining the country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Ghana.

Officials from both countries reaffirmed their dedication to using the Forum as a platform to nurture creativity, drive cultural diplomacy, and create sustainable opportunities for artists, researchers, and students.

The Austrian Cultural Forum is expected to host exhibitions, workshops, lectures, and exchange programmes that will enrich Ghana’s cultural and academic landscape while promoting mutual understanding and collaboration.

The establishment of the Forum marks a significant step in Ghana–Austria relations, signaling a long-term commitment to cultural diplomacy and partnership through shared knowledge, innovation, and creative expression.
