Chairman of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Club Licensing Committee, Dr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh, has raised concerns over some coaches in the Ghana Premier League and Division One League allegedly operating with forged CAF certificates.

Speaking to Sporty FM, Dr. Baah Nuakoh revealed that the GFA’s Technical Directorate had alerted his committee to the worrying trend.

“We were informed by the technical directorate of the GFA that there are a lot of fake CAF certificates in circulation. People are doctoring CAF licenses and getting employment,” he said.

He questioned the scrutiny clubs apply when hiring coaches and suggested that some club officials may be complicit.

“The question is, do the employers know? It is only the employers who upload these certificates into the system. The person themselves does not have access to the application system, so it will be an official of the club,” he explained.

Dr. Baah Nuakoh also noted that some coaches present certificates of participation from CAF training courses as if they were official licenses.

“Some hold certificates of participation in licensing courses, but that does not mean they have a license. You might attend a licensing course but not pass, so you have a certificate of participation but no official license to coach. We are seeing a lot of that, from the Premier League to the Division One League.”
