The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has praised what he describes as steady and encouraging growth in Ghana’s domestic league, highlighting increased matchday attendance and rising competition in the ongoing 2025/26 season.
Speaking in an interview with Asaase Radio, Mr. Okraku said the current campaign has showcased stronger fan engagement and improved standards across league centres, reflecting renewed confidence in local football.
“What excites me most is the progression of local football,” he said. “Days ago, we witnessed the Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, and that was a loud statement about our game, our passion for local football, and the quality of our officials.”
He singled out Ghanaian referee Daniel Laryea, describing him as one of the finest referees on the continent and a testament to the strides being made within the domestic football ecosystem.
On the competitive front, the league title race remains intense. After 22 matches, Medeama SC lead the standings with 44 points, while the remaining clubs continue to battle for supremacy. Matchday 23 fixtures are scheduled across the country this weekend, promising more excitement for fans.
