Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has affirmed the Association’s willingness to collaborate with reputable betting companies interested in featuring Ghanaian football matches on their platforms.
Speaking at the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress on Tuesday, Okraku addressed growing concerns about match-fixing allegations linked to betting activities within Ghana’s football leagues.
He clarified that no betting company currently holds the rights to offer wagers on matches from the Ghana Premier League, Division One League, or any other domestic competitions.
Describing unauthorised betting as illegal, Okraku emphasised the GFA’s firm commitment to combating these practices.
“We are pursuing legal action locally and internationally against companies that unlawfully take bets on our leagues,” he said. “No betting company is allowed to take bets on our domestic competitions.”
He reiterated that no betting operator is permitted to accept bets on domestic football without official authorisation.
Nonetheless, the GFA President expressed openness to forming transparent and ethical partnerships with credible, licensed betting companies wishing to engage with Ghana’s football ecosystem.
