Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has emphasised the federation’s commitment to building a strong and competitive Black Stars squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
As part of preparations, head coach Otto Addo has named a 26-man squad for upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany. The list includes four debutants: Derrick Luckassen, Marvin Senaya, Daniel Agyei, and Patrick Pfeiffer.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Asante Twum explained the rationale behind introducing new players into the squad.
“We want to build a strong team. We want to get to a point where, even without our senior players, we will be able to play comfortably.
“We have spoken to several players, and we are glad to have them, but they will have to compete for a place on the team.
“We want to create a competitive environment, and we want every player to bring competition to the team. Those who are already in the squad must also improve themselves, as it will help to build a stronger side,” he said.
The Black Stars are scheduled to travel to Vienna to face Austria on March 27 before heading to Germany for the second friendly on March 30, 2026.
