The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2025 harmonised prospectus for Senior High Schools and Technical Institutions nationwide.

Referred to as the National Prospectus, it is intended for all incoming first-year students and outlines a uniform set of requirements.

Schools are required to strictly adhere to this standard list and are prohibited from requesting additional items outside what has been officially approved.

The measure is expected to ease the burden on parents, allowing them to prepare early without waiting for the rollout of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) before purchasing items for their children.

The prospectus is divided into three categories.

Category A includes 27 basic items such as a trunk or hard-body suitcase, chop box or plastic container, toiletries, beddings, a pair of school-specific footwear, underwear, cutlery, and essential academic tools including a mathematical set and scientific calculator.

Category B focuses on cleaning supplies, divided into three sub-groups. Students in group one must present items like hard hand gloves, five litres of liquid soap, and one kilogramme of washing powder.

Group two students are required to bring a small-sized bleach, a dustpan, a long-handled broom, and a scrubbing brush, while group three must provide a standing mop with a mop bucket, a duster, and a short local broom.

For day students, Category A requires them to have a mathematical set, a scientific calculator, decent school-specific sandals without embellishments, black or white sneakers, and a school bag.

The cleaning materials in Category B also apply to day students under the three sub-groups.

The GES emphasised that the uniform prospectus is aimed at reducing disparities, ensuring fairness across schools, and easing the financial and logistical stress on parents.
