The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all heads of Senior High Schools (SHSs) to immediately refund any fees collected from students or parents for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) practicals.
The directive, issued in a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director-General of GES, Professor Smile Dzisi, follows the government’s decision to fully fund the 2025 WASSCE practical examinations, including the supply of all required materials and logistics.
“School heads are to notify their respective Regional Directors once refunds have been completed,” the statement added.
GES further instructed that all refunds must be properly documented, with official receipts issued to confirm repayment.
The move, according to the Service, aims to ease financial burdens on students and their families and ensure that no candidate is barred from writing the exams due to an inability to pay.
“Failure to comply will be considered a serious breach of official instructions and may attract administrative sanctions,” the GES warned.
