The German Embassy in Accra has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight individuals in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.
In a statement released soon after the news broke, the Embassy conveyed its heartfelt condolences and affirmed its support for the people and Government of Ghana during this period of national mourning.
“This is a painful and heartbreaking moment. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government of Ghana, as well as with the families and friends of all those who lost their lives,” the statement said.
The Embassy also acknowledged the passing of two senior ministers it had long collaborated with, describing them as admirable figures in public service.
Their commitment to Ghana’s progress and their personal kindness, the Embassy said, left lasting impressions that would not be forgotten.
“Their vision and warmth made them not just partners, but friends. Their absence will be deeply felt,” the statement added.
The incident, which involved a military aircraft on its way to Obuasi, has since been recognized as a national tragedy by the Ghanaian government. In response, the country has ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in honour of the deceased until further notice.
