Gatsi, Kwakye, 2 others appointed as Advisors to BoG Governor

Economist Dr. John Gatsi and Director at the Institute of Economic Affairs Dr. John Kwakye have been appointed as Advisors to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama.

Also appointed are Franklin Belyne, former Head of Banking Supervision at the Bank of Ghana, and Francis Kumah, former Ghana representative at the International Monetary Fund.

Gloria Quartey, former Head of the Human Resources Department of the Bank, has also been retained as an advisor to the Governor.

They are expected to support the Governor in making key policy decisions for the central bank.

Governor on Appointments

Speaking at the opening of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting on Wednesday, Dr. Johnson Asiama noted that Professor John Gatsi will assist in the area of non-interest banking at the Bank of Ghana.

Regarding Dr. Francis Kumah, the Governor stated, “He will bring his experience from working at the IMF to support the Bank of Ghana.”
