A fire outbreak has damaged part of an eight-bedroom self-contained house at Tamso Estate near Wakanda Hotel in Tarkwa.

The incident occurred when a fire broke out on the first floor of the building.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Tarkwa responded promptly and managed to confine the blaze within minutes, stopping it from spreading to the ground floor and nearby residential houses.

The fire was brought under control and fully extinguished by 11:52 a.m., according to GNFS officials.

Although several rooms on the first floor and personal belongings were destroyed, no injuries or fatalities were recorded.

Large sections of the building, including the entire ground floor, were successfully salvaged due to the quick response of the fire crew.

Preliminary investigations by the GNFS indicate that the fire may have been caused by a gas explosion while a tenant was cooking with liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Further investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause.
