The Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to stop making excuses and take firm action to combat illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Mr. Aboagye stated that the galamsey menace has intensified within President Mahama’s nine months in office and called on him to deliver on the promises he made while in opposition.

“Today, we are seeing galamsey escalate in nine months. What the government needs to do is to stop the excuses and stop asking for time, because nobody has time, and the situation is dire,” he said.

He emphasized that Ghanaians are looking for decisive measures, even if the outcomes are not immediate.

“You made specific promises to the people, at least implement those promises, let them not work. People will actually admit that you made an effort, but in a situation where you have not done the things you said you would do, people will talk,” he added.
